The Gallopers is a wonderfully bright evocation of the world of the Funfair. Taken from her experience of the annual Banbury Fair, this image presents the flavour of traditional fairground decoration, a folk-art that seldom gets the attention it deserves. Added to that is the sensation of movement of the gallopers whirling past. You can almost hear the steam-driven organ music and excited cries of the children and all the atmosphere and energy of the fair. It is a minute moment captured to be dipped into at any time you please, to recall the magic and enchantment of youth. Written by Alan Mynall 2009 The fair is upon us, the movement a spread of blur in brushmarks. The background painted in folk and primary way providing the backdrop for the fair. This work is influenced by folk and the effect of the camera taking pictures as a blur. It is just the pictures strives at a tradition, indeed in the 1970's alot was expressed through the fairground attraction. Written by E. Waller 23/03/10
