The barn owl, standing on a plynth of wood, a tree trunk, a traditional standing play for the painted bird. The pose opposite to the rythm of the tree trunk turns and faces in the same direction. The beauty of sequence has to be pre-conceived in a pose set by the artist. The artist will tell you if this is so. Rich is the brown in all aspects of the picture such that the white feathers glow in harmony and stand as a presence unto itself. The sense of intense reality again is a reflection of the manner of applied paint and saturation in colour. Written by E. Waller 23/03/10
