Ms Wood originally studied German and French at
Nottingham University. After a career, firstly, in
teaching those subjects followed by a stint working
for an educational supplier, she decided that her
lifelong love of Art could no longer be suppressed
and took two courses in painting with the Open
College of the Arts.
She likes to experiment with the different media,
frequently mixing them, but also paints in pure
oils, acrylics and inks. Her main areas of interest
are colour, pattern and textures and she often likes
to build up a rough surface with collage and pastes,
then lets her imagination dictate the picture.
Her inspiration comes mostly from nature and she
enjoys painting landscapes and still life with plants,
but also likes to paint people going about their
business.
She has exhibited widely in the South of England
and her work is in collections in the UK, France,
Germany and the USA.
