J. Shock is a theoretical physicist, and has worked at various universities throughout China, Japan, Korea, Spain and Germany. During these travels he has been documenting his adventures through writing and photography. As a physicist, the interplay between light, colour and form plays a major part in his work, while the study of different societies and cultures has led to an interest in photographing the people he meets on his travels. This has been particularly true in China, where an interest in Mandarin has led to many lucky opportunities for portraiture.
