How does one make the unknown known and the unseen seen?

The Islamic poet Rumi posited that we have two sets of eyes. Ones eyes of flesh perceive the world of mankind as dense material. In such eyes life is a losing struggle for permanence. Although sometimes full of beauty it is transient.

We also possess eyes of fire; these eyes perceive each object as the outer sign of an inner thing, or the local sign of a distant power. For such eyes nothing is (lonely) matter: all things are caught up in a mysterious, ultimately divine whole that challenges our understanding over a lifetime. When looking at art we need to strike a balance between these two polarities of material and cosmic-spiritual.

In my work there is no single interpretation although during its genesis it is informed and affected by certain concepts and imagery (on a macro and microcosmic scale). Each individual will bring their own ideas and imagination to bear according to their own sensibilities and experiences.
