Old newspapers, Volume XII of the Chambers
Encyclopaedia (1955 edition),
gift-wrap, tissue paper and junk mail. Just a
collection of rubbish, or the
ingredients for dynamic paintings by Christine
Hopkins? These and many other
discarded pieces form the collage base for colourful
interpretations of the
landscape.
An Associate member of
the Society of
Graphic Fine Art, Christine
is drawn to strong linear forms and in particular the
built world. Fully
committed to drawing - the foundation to all her
work, Christine says "This
is painting with a difference - as much fun as
playschool, but don't try
this if you don't want to get your hands dirty!"
After successfully showcasing mixed
media
painting at Surrey Art in Action,
she will be demonstrating at the Menier Gallery in
London as part of the Big
Draw event in October, bringing live drawing and
painting to a wider
audience.
Christine demonstrates mixed media painting and
leads workshops from the
Skylight Studio in Reigate. Her paintings are held in
private collections
around the world.
