A. Squire was born in the North of England. From an early age she had a passion for wildlife and horses and could always be found sketching animals. Ann trained as a nurse and followed that career for many years, and only started painting in 1996. Ann exhibits with numerous art societies and has won several awards for her work. In 2006 She was awarded The Overall Amateur Wildlife Artist Of The Year presented by Wildscape for her painting Tiger Crossing. And was delighted and honoured when asked if the painting could be used for the Special Guest invite for Marwell International Wildlife Art Society Private Viewing 2006. In August 2007 she was awarded best oil painting and best in Exhibition by Ringwood Art Society for her painting of African Wild dogs entitled Game On. In September the same year she took part in the Christies Wildlife and Sporting auction in London. This year Ann was awarded Runner up Amateur Wildlife Artist Of The Year for her painting of A Gorilla looking at a Chameleon entitled You Looking At Me?. Also her painting Tiger Drinking was voted best in show at R.A.S by members & Guests at the preview evening. In July this year Ann exhibited and sold work at the Exhibition of Equestrian Art held at the Mall galleries London for the first time. 'I believe art is a life long journey and am continually looking for new challenges. I always hope that my next painting is going to be my best and if this ever stops it will be time to give up. I am inspired by and learn from many artists, from books and nature itself.'
