The Old Bell at Wooburn Green has been a public
house
for centuries, two as a matter of interest. Since
1998, myself, Peter Lim, took it over and changed it
into a bar with an Oriental Restaurant and bed and
breakfast. It has been well supported by locals and
guests from further a field, Australia, South Africa,
Canada, America and Europe.
In the bar, we serve lagers, real ales (one guest ale
which changes on a very regular basis), and wines
chosen by myself amongst other liquors. It is a very
comfortable and welcoming bar with regulars often
ending up in conversation with new guests. Being
close to sporting facilities, we often have groups
from the tennis club, football clubs and badminton
club. We also serve food in the bar area when
customers prefer the less formal atmosphere.
The restaurant offers a choice of a la carte or set
menus. Our food is a combination of Chinese,
Malaysian and Thai. This is why I called it an
Oriental Restaurant. Saki (Japanese rice wine) and
Tsing Tao beer compliments our cuisine along with
specially selected wines (Gewurztraminer being
one).
Lunch time menu is a selection from our a la carte
menu and priced at 6.00 for one course and 8.50
for two. We also offer some English food like
tomato & basil sausages, ham & egg, wraps,
sandwiches and fish & chips.
Our rooms are all en-suite with beverage making
facilities. Each has a refrigerator where we leave
items for breakfast. We have wireless broadband
connection available at no charge for the use of our
guests. This allows them to work in their rooms or
in the public areas.
There is a lovely, paved garden for customers
during the warmer days. During the summer,
customers prefer to eat outdoors, enjoying the
garden at its best. Of course, this area will soon
become a designated area for smokers.
Car parking is available for 20 cars.
